House of Order

Organize yourselves; Prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;
Doctrine and Covenants 88:119
Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early ,that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.
Doctrine and Covenants 88:124

Milestones

Here are some updates on the boys:
- Eli now sleeps without a diaper (3 1/2 years old). He hasn't had any wet sheets so far. I'm so glad.
- Diego is completely weaned! I stopped nursing him when he was 1 year and 3 weeks. I'm glad to be finished with that chapter.
- Diego's first word was "hi". That is actually his only word as of now. His little voice is so cute and he says hi to everyone.
- Diego walks more and more each day. I'm anticipating full walking so I don't have to carry him all the time. I'm not sure why, but I rarely use a stroller for him, so I carry him everywhere. I do use a stroller when we go for long walks outside. I love watching new walkers. Diego loves when he takes a lot of steps- he gets so proud of himself and laughs and smiles so much.
- Cesar and I paid for a babysitter for the very 1st time ever last week! We went to a wedding in Golden and my mom was out of town and Sandra was busy, so we asked a college girl from church to babysit. Everything went well!

1st day of work

Eli was overjoyed when Cesar got home last night from his first day at his new job! Cesar is a CAD designer at Triunity Engineering. He had a good first day and looked so nice in his work clothes. Diego was already asleep when he came home unfortunately. Hopefully that won't be the case every night. I'm so proud of Cesar and am happy my dad's friend had a connection to get Cesar an interview. I'm glad we will start making more money and be able to pay off some of our student loans. We will miss having Cesar around so much though; the boys had fun playing with him and he really helped out around the house.

Sick

My boys have all been sick- all 3 of them!
I have joined them as well unfortuatly.

Cesar came home from work Tuesday with a 100.8 degree temperature. He went straight to bed and slept- He doesn't like to just lie around so I know he really felt bad. He also took medicine which he doesn't typically do either. He has a horrible cough still and blows his nose a lot.

Eli had a trip to the Emergency Room Wednesday night (the 30th). We were in bed already asleep when he came in coughing horribly and gasping for air. We didn't know what to do or what was happening. Cesar rushed him to Children's Hospital where they diagnosed him with Croup. They gave him some steroid medicine and he came home. The couple of nights prior to this Eli had coughed some, but there were no other symptoms at all. Eli did great at the hospital and on their way home Eli told Cesar that he is his best friend. That really touched Cesar. Eli is such a sweet boy. A week later Eli came down with a fever and ear pain. He said that he couldn't hear and when we touched his ear he said it hurt. We took him to the doctor and found out both of his ears were infected. He is on antibiotics. He still coughs some and seems a bit run down.

Diego has bronchitis. He had some typical cold symptoms - fever (102), cough, and runny nose. I siscpected ear infections since he has had a history with them. We took him to the doctor to get him checked out and his ears were fine, but he had bronchitis. Scary stuff. The doctor gave him a breathing treatment at the office and gave us some steroids to give him for the next 3 days. He now has a bad cough- he sounds like an old man. His oxygen level was fine so that is good. Yesterday he had a 4 1/2 hour nap and right now he is just waking up from 3 1/2 hours! He needs the rest.

I am not too sick, yet.... I have just been sneezing a lot and feel kind of stuffed up. I think I have a slight fever and just feel tired. Diego and I stayed home from church today and took naps.

I am really grateful for Medicaid so that all these trips to the doctors office and the ER and the medications don't cost us anything! I'm also grateful for our doctor. I really like him and feel comfortable asking him a lot of questions.

I am looking forward to all of us getting better this week!

Birthdays, Anniversary, and Food

Cesar cooked dinner for my birthday- it was actually a few days after. It was grilled peach chipotle chicken and rice. It was really good and he made enough for three nights! I love leftovers.
My 32nd birthday. Cesar gave me an ice cream cake and 2 Devotchka CD's.
Cesar and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary March 25th. We had lunch at the Melting Pot. It was a nice resturant and good fondue. The experience was great. Thanks to Sandra for babysitting our kids.
Diego's Birthday present (we gave Eli the exact same thing on his 1st birthday too)
We had a small birthday party at our house.
Birthday cake and water!

Lucky Mommy

This morning I was a lucky mommy- well I guess I'm always a lucky mommy, but this morning Diego snuggled with me for 30 minutes straight. He woke up early and Cesar got him out of his crib and brought him to me in bed. He laid there with me quietly and still for half an hour! He was just snuggling me and his lovey and sucking his thumb. He was so precious. What a nice way to start a morning!

In other news, Cesar got a job! He will be working as a CAD designer for Triunity Engeneering. We feel so blessed and happy. He will still be looking for a architect job, but is so happy to be starting something new and be gaining experience and new knowledge!

1st Birthday

Diego turned a year old Friday! We had a fun day. Cesar, the boys, and I went to Monkey Bizness in the morning. It is a indoor play place for little kids. Diego had fun in the "crawler area". He especially liked going down a little slide by himself. He is such a cutie. Eli had fun on the big slides and the jumping area. We ate pizza there and then came home for naps. I even got a nap! Diego slept for a few hours and Cesar and Eli went to do a few errands together. Then we had a little birthday party for Diego. LaResa, her family, and Sandra came. We ate pizza (again) and had cake. Diego opened a couple of presents.

The Sunday before his birthday we celebrated Diego's birthday at my parent's house along with 4 other family birthdays (March is a busy month). I made him a apple cake- the same one I made for Eli's first birthday. He got presents there too.

It feels good to have a one year old now. I thought a lot about his birth and feel so blessed. I still can't believe how fast he came! I enjoy being a mother and sometimes wonder if I could have a third...??...

Here are a few things about Diego:

- He is such a love bug and a momma's boy. He loves to get super close to my face and lean his little head on mine and snuggle. He sucks his thumb all the time too. Anytime I'm in the room he wants me (which can get annoying, but feels nice sometimes too).

- He is close to walking- I think. He stands on his own for a few seconds at a time and took one little step the day before his birthday.

- He loves to get one of Eli's shoes and carry it upstairs with him. He can climb up pretty fast and I'm always scared he is going to fall.

- He loves wheels! It sounds strange but lately everytime he sees a stroller or wheelchair he crawls fast to get to them. I don't always know if the person is okay with him touching their wheels, and they are not exactly the cleanest things he could play with, but when I pick him up he Screams! He is very strong willed and wants what he wants when he wants it! We had to leave Barnes and Nobles the other day because there were too many strollers around. At church today there was a little boy in a wheelchair in the hall and Diego went straight for him.

- He gets very impatient while I'm preparing his food. He loves to eat and loves to drink water. He doesn't like milk- yet; Eli refused milk for a couple of months when he turned one and then started liking milk a lot.

- I only nurse Diego twice a day now- before bedtime and when he wakes up in the morning. I will try to wean him completely pretty soon.

- He sleeps very well at night, usually from 6ish to 7ish in the morning. He takes just one nap now.

- He has such cute dimples.

- He doesn't like getting his diaper or clothes changed. It is a struggle everytime.
