Eli is Five!

My little Eli turned five years old last week!  Five seems pretty old to me and maybe for the first time I feel like he is growing up too fast.  Having a five year old makes me feel pretty old.

He had a great birthday and told me a few times during the day that "this is the best day ever!"  On his actual birthday we met my mom and Ivaras at Nick's Gardens.  Eli's friend, Jibril, met us there too after he got out of school.

The boys rode the train and went through the "spooky tunnel"  We also had a picnic lunch there.

After Nick's Eli went to school. Diego and I joined his class for snack and got to sing to Eli and another of his classmate with the same birthday.  We had cookies and cupcakes.

In the evening we met Cesar at Chuck E. Cheese for pizza and games.  The boys had fun playing games.

Eli told us several times that he didn't want any presents for his birthday because he doesn't have anywhere to put them.  He really likes everything to have a place.  We just organized their play room and don't have much space for anything else.
In the morning I had a gift wrapped for him on the coffee table.  He actually seemed more excited to look at and read the card first.  Then he asked if he should open the present now or wait until we celebrate later.  I told him it was his choice, he thought about it for a while and then went ahead and opened it.  It was a I Spy sticker book.  He said thank you.  His friend Jibril gave him a nice alphabet train puzzle, he got socks from his cousins, and he got a toy kitchen from grandma and grandpa.  He has wanted a kitchen for quite a while, so he was really excited to get it.

Sunday following his birthday we had a little party for him after family dinner.
Oreo Mickey Mouse cake made by Cesar.

Eli now thinks he is so big because he is 5. He is such a cute boy and I love him so much!

5 months pregnant

I am pregnant!  We are expecting a baby girl in February- due Feb. 8th.
Here are three pictures of me all taken at five months pregnancy.  I think my baby bump looks similar in all of them.

Evening at the Park

Tonight we had a lovely evening at City Park as a family.  It seems like family time is hard to come by now, with Cesar being so busy.  It was just what I needed to start a new week.  City Park is one of my favorite places in all of Denver.  The view is great with the mountains, lake, and skyline.  We don't live very far from it now.

Eli news

Today Eli got his very first "professional" haircut.  Cesar has been so super busy lately and hasn't had time to cut his hair, so I broke down and paid $13 for a cut.  Eli sat super still and was great while the lady cut his hair and now his hair will be much more manageable!  I just wish it didn't grow so fast.

Here he is with his nice new haircut and a cat face painting.  One of his classmates moms came and painted everyones face today at school.
Eli is really enjoying preschool!  He loves to go everyday and wonders why he can't go on the weekends.  He enjoys recess and center time.  He also likes going to the school library each Friday and show and tell every Friday.  The teacher asks them to bring something for show and tell that starts with the letter they studied that week.  One week he brought a toy snake for S and last week he brought a map for M.  Today Eli rode his bike all the way to school!  I followed behind and pushed Diego in the stroller.  His school is a mile away.  We have walked a couple of times, but I think I'm getting too pregnant for that much walking and pushing.  At the end of the walk, my legs are in pretty bad pain.
Eli said a very nice prayer in primary Sunday.  I stepped in to listen and he did perfectly.  He spoke into the microphone very well and said everything clear and slowly.  I'm proud of him.  For a few weeks he was pretty nervous about going to his new primary since we moved into our new ward, but now he seems fine.  We would say a prayer in the car before we went into church that he would be brave, make new friends, and not feel scared.
He in almost five!  I can't believe I have been a mom for five years now!  I love him so much.
