Day at the Musuem

Eli and I went to the Science and Nature Musuem on Monday. It was a free day. We spent time in the kid area and the space area. Eli liked playing with all the cool puzzles, blocks, and other kids. We also had a snack outside in the park while we enjoyed the wonderful warm weather. I love City Park and the great view of downtown. We had a great time together.

First Haircut

Before the haircut

During the cut

Cesar gave Eli his very first haircut yesterday. Eli's hair was pretty long- he had very cute curls in the back that were kind of hard to part with.
He now looks like a much older boy and very handsome. He was thankfully very cooperative during the haircut. We decided to keep some of the hair we cut off. I couple of years ago I found some of my hair from my first haircut that my mom had kept and I ended up throwing it away. It just seemed kind of gross to me. We will let Eli decide when he gets older if he wants to keep his hair or not.

A Few Things

The other night I had a strange dream. Paris Hilton was Cesar's friend. He invited her over one night and she didn't arrive until 4 a.m. He had given her a key to our house and when she arrived she was very loud and didn't seem to even notice that we had been asleep and that Eli was asleep. She had just arrived from a night on the town. She woke Eli up and I was pretty upset, so I told Cesar he was in charge of both of them. Later on I went upstairs to our bedroom and Paris, Cesar, and Eli were in there. Paris had just given Eli some chewing gum! I was so mad! It was a weird dream to say the least! The next day I asked Cesar if he has a crush on Paris- he doesn't. Where did that dream come from???

I absolutely love parking in the garage! It was especially nice the last two days when it has been snowing and only in the teens!

I had jury duty the other day. Thanks to my mom for babysitting Eli all day long and for Cesar for giving Eli breakfast in the morning and putting him to sleep at night. I was actually picked for the jury! I was very excited and have always wanted to be on a jury. It was only one day. The defendant was accused of trespassing and possession of alcohol- he was only 18 years old. We found him guilty of trespassing and not guilty of possession of alcohol. We deliberated for a little over an hour. I didn't get home until after 7 p.m. It was fun, interesting, and nice to get a break from every day life. I really really missed Eli though. That was definitely the longest I had been away from him. He had a good day with my mom and his dad though.

Eli and Cesar had a long "conversation" the other night when Cesar got home from work. Cesar sat on the couch and Eli sat on the chair and just talked and told each other about the day they had. It was so sweet!

Garage

Monday and Tuesday Cesar and I worked on getting our garage in order. For the past year and a half, our garage has been a complete mess! We haven't even been able to park in there, but that is all going to change soon. Cesar built shelves for storage and a work desk for himself, he also painted. We got rid of some stuff and organized some stuff. There is still more to do, but we are off to a good start!

Eli

Eli is a funny funny boy. Several times in the past few days Cesar has said, " I love this little boy", "Eli has the best personality", "He is such a good boy, we got so lucky." Here are a few things about Eli:
- He sleeps through the night now! 15 nights in a row! Usually from 6 p.m. until 7 or 8 a.m. He does not cry when I put him down in his crib or when he wakes up in the morning. He wakes up talking to himself- it is so adorable.

- He loves to eat! His favorite things are bananas, yogurt, applesauce, oatmeal, and quesadillas. He likes to drink milk now too! When he wants more food, he points to the kitchen, nods his head, and makes a little sound. He knows the sign for more too- I didn't even try to teach him, but I must have done it a few times (we used to use some baby signs at work) and then he just started doing it.

- He blows kisses when we say bye and goodnight. Even when I'm on the phone and say bye, or I love you, Eli blows kisses.

- He waits on the top of the stairs patiently for me or Cesar to hold his hand while going down.

- He laughs a lot and rarely cries!

- Sometimes he just talks and talks. He likes to pretend like he is talking on the phone. He puts my phone or his toy phone up to his ear and just jabbers. The other day he was talking on the phone and walked up to me, put his hand on my shoulder to get my attention and then asked me a question, went back to his phone call and told them the answer. He is so funny!

Mexico vacation

Our vacation to Mexico city was good. We did a lot in ten days and had fun famiy time. Here are some things I learned:
- I am grateful to be American and live in this country.
- I am one out of millions and millions of people in the world- and we are all children of God.
- I am thankful to be able to stay at home and take care of Eli and our home without having to have a job. There are many women in Mexico that have to work with their babies. I saw so many small children on the streets selling things with their parents.
- Heavenly Father hears our prayers and takes care of us.
- Cesar is a good driver.
- Eli can adapt well to change and vacation.
- Driving in the US is so much easier than driving in Mexico. I am thankful for street signs and driving rules that people actually follow.

Eli experienced some firsts on our trip:
- He ate McDonalds for the first time.
- He met his Mexican relatives.
- He slept in the same bed as his parents for the first time.
- He flew on an airplane, rode on a bus and subway.
- Rode in a car without a car seat (we took our carseat and used it in the rental car, but one day Cesar's uncle and aunt picked us up and we rode in their car).

Cesar saw his old high school, his old house and even got to go inside and talk with the owners. He got to see his relatives including his grandma after 12 years and his best friend from high school.
