Circus

Eli and I went to the circus Saturday. Eli's favorite part was the intermission. We got to go down to the rings and see the elephants, dogs, ponies, and clowns. You could pay for a ride on the elephants and ponies. I didn't think Eli would be ready for that yet, and then I saw how much they were charging! Can you guess? $10 for a five minute ride! Wow, that's ridiculous. My ticket only cost $12, and Eli got in free! There were plenty of people riding, so I guess that is where the circus gets most of its money! Eli liked watching! We have seen elephants at the zoo, but never so close.

My favorite part was the human cannonball. This man was 67 and had been doing this for fourty something years! It was cool to watch. I covered Eli's ears when the cannonball went off.

You could pay for pictures with the bear too- I wonder how much they charged for that? (The man was feeding the bear cereal.)

Eli sat on my lap in awe for the first half and then stood up and danced to the music for most of the second half! Our least favorite part of the circus was that Cesar wasn't there with us. He was at school working on a reasearch paper. We did pick him up after the show was over and took him home (since we were already downtown). Sometimes I feel guilty about doing fun stuff with Eli when Cesar isn't with us, but I know I shouldn't. I had to remind myself several times during the circus to not worry that Cesar wasn't there and to just enjoy myself and have fun with Eli! I think I did a pretty good job.

Since it was cold and rainy yesterday we played a lot in Eli's room. He likes to stack blocks and then push down his tower.

Eli is learning how to do puzzles and is really proud of himself when he places a piece correctly. He claps after each piece and says "yeah!". (I tried to capture his clap, but was unsuccessful).

Rain

Yesterday it starting raining and today it has switched between rain and snow all morning. Eli liked looking out the door while we sang "Rain Rain Go Away, Little Eli wants to play."
I do really like the rain though. It's nice to watch and hear. The sound it makes on our skylight is great!

Pipes and Words

We had another leaky pipe the other day. This time it was in the water heater closet next to the kitchen. It was hard to fix since the space was so small and Cesar could only get one hand in there. He was able to fix it though! I'm so glad he is handy. Eli and I brought some spare keys to Cesar the other day at his school (he locked his in his locker). Since we were downtown we decided to take a walk. Eli and I walked around Writer's Square and he really loved all the sculptures. Then we ate at Panda Express for dinner. After ordering, I realized that I had left my wallet in the car! I told the people sorry but I didn't have my money, but then I remembered I had brought some quarters and dimes for the parking meter. I was still short about a dollar and a half, but they gave us the food anyways!

Eli is learning new words every day. Today he suprised me by saying diaper, and yesterday it was cracker. He knows about 30 words. He is one and a half today!

Sunday he will be able to go to nursery at church! I'm super excited for this, since it has been quite challenging the last couple of months trying to keep him entertained the entire three hours. I know he will enjoy playing with other kids and learning too.

His cousin gave him a new doll the other day. He likes it and calls it "bebe". He thinks it's cool that I can take the T-shirt and diaper off.

30th Birthday

I'm 30 today! It feels good.

I had a party Friday night. It was a lot of fun. My parents let us use their house while they spent the night at our house with Eli. That was my first night to be away from Eli. It went well and I didn't worry very much either! Thank you so much mom and dad.

Bill Cosby and the Light Rail

Cesar surprised me with Bill Cosby tickets for our anniversary. We have been married 3 great years. Bill Cosby put on a good show! He talked for over 2 hours and was so funny! It was just him on the stage sitting next to a small table. He talked about cooks vs. chefs, marriage (he's been married 45 years), children, cutting down Christmas trees, Thanksgiving turkeys, and more.

We rode the Light Rail downtown. I love the light rail! I always have, I'm not sure why my fascination, but I'm jealous of Cesar because he gets to ride it to school all the time. I rode it to work sometimes when I worked downtown, but it had been a while since I was last on it.

I did something kind of stupid. I decided to not buy a ticket because they are so expensive. Round trip is $7. They rarely check for tickets, so I decided to gamble. Cesar doesn't have to pay because he is a student. Well, on the way home, I got caught! I still didn't have to pay which was my goal anyways. I got a warning and next time if I'm caught I will get a $51 ticket.

I'm not sure why the tickets are so expensive, but I think it is ridiculous, and if they want people to stop driving and use it, they need to lower the price!

Hand Surgery

A couple of months ago when Cesar was building a work table in the garage, he got a splinter. He came in the house and thought he got it out with the tweezers, but apparently he didn't. A week or so later his hand still hurt and then he realized there was still wood inside. You could actually feel the stick through his hand. After a couple of doctor's visits, he finally saw a hand specialist that was willing to get it out. They said if it was metal they could keep it in, but since it was wood it would be best to get it out because it could become infected after awhile. Now, his hand is almost completely healed!

Look closely and you can see him holding the piece of wood that came out of his hand. It's over an inch long!
