30th Birthday

I'm 30 today! It feels good.

I had a party Friday night. It was a lot of fun. My parents let us use their house while they spent the night at our house with Eli. That was my first night to be away from Eli. It went well and I didn't worry very much either! Thank you so much mom and dad.

Bill Cosby and the Light Rail

Cesar surprised me with Bill Cosby tickets for our anniversary. We have been married 3 great years. Bill Cosby put on a good show! He talked for over 2 hours and was so funny! It was just him on the stage sitting next to a small table. He talked about cooks vs. chefs, marriage (he's been married 45 years), children, cutting down Christmas trees, Thanksgiving turkeys, and more.

We rode the Light Rail downtown. I love the light rail! I always have, I'm not sure why my fascination, but I'm jealous of Cesar because he gets to ride it to school all the time. I rode it to work sometimes when I worked downtown, but it had been a while since I was last on it.

I did something kind of stupid. I decided to not buy a ticket because they are so expensive. Round trip is $7. They rarely check for tickets, so I decided to gamble. Cesar doesn't have to pay because he is a student. Well, on the way home, I got caught! I still didn't have to pay which was my goal anyways. I got a warning and next time if I'm caught I will get a $51 ticket.

I'm not sure why the tickets are so expensive, but I think it is ridiculous, and if they want people to stop driving and use it, they need to lower the price!

Hand Surgery

A couple of months ago when Cesar was building a work table in the garage, he got a splinter. He came in the house and thought he got it out with the tweezers, but apparently he didn't. A week or so later his hand still hurt and then he realized there was still wood inside. You could actually feel the stick through his hand. After a couple of doctor's visits, he finally saw a hand specialist that was willing to get it out. They said if it was metal they could keep it in, but since it was wood it would be best to get it out because it could become infected after awhile. Now, his hand is almost completely healed!
Look closely and you can see him holding the piece of wood that came out of his hand. It's over an inch long!

Family Time

Saturday Cesar did not work and we spent some quality family time. It was great! It had been a while since we all went out and did something fun. Here are some pictures of the day. We started by going to story time at Barnes and Nobles, then ate outside at a restaurant, then spent time at the park. It was a lot of fun.

Child of God

I sing "I am a Child Of God" to Eli each night before he goes to sleep. It's a song I have known since I was young. Here are the lyrics:

1. I am a child of God,
And he has sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home
With parents kind and dear.

[Chorus]
Lead me, guide me, walk beside me,
Help me find the way.
Teach me all that I must do
To live with him someday.

2. I am a child of God,
And so my needs are great;
Help me to understand his words
Before it grows too late.
3. I am a child of God.
Rich blessings are in store;
If I but learn to do his will
I’ll live with him once more.

I love this song and what it teaches. I want Eli to know that God loves him and has a plan for him and his life.

It is a pretty simple concept that some people don't know or believe, but I'm glad I do.

I remember a Radiohead concert I went to at Red Rocks in 2003 I think. It was great music and great weather, but one song was really memorable. The song was "Paranoid Android " the very last lyrics of the song are "God loves His children" and I remember looking at all the hundreds of people there and thinking that God loves ALL these people and they are ALL His children! At that moment I understood that God loves Everyone regardless of their good or bad choices! I've thought about that moment often through the years.

Felt Like a Summer Day

Today was a fun day. Eli and I went to my sister's house to take care of Ivaras in the morning. We played outside in the backyard and loved the wonderful warm weather! I think it reached 70 degrees! Eli tried riding a little trike, but found out his legs are too short. He also enjoyed going down the slide all by himself. On the way home Eli fell asleep in the car about five minutes before we got home. I brought him inside and to his crib right away, but he did not fall back asleep in the crib. He just talked to himself for almost an hour, when I decided to go get him and take him to the zoo! It was free day and we met my sister and her two kids there too. It was a lot of fun and great to be outside in the sunshine and warmth! I liked seeing the tigers the best! We saw a couple really close up and they looked so huge! They were both chewing on hunks of meat and bones. We also saw giraffes, bears, monkeys, peacocks, camels, zebras, elephants, and more. Then we all went to Wendy's for dinner.
Now Eli is fast asleep and I am waiting for Cesar to return home from school to help him edit an essay test that is due tonight at 11. The only bad thing about today is that Cesar couldn't be with us at the zoo. He has been so super busy with school and work the last couple of weeks. About a week ago Cesar was at school for 36 hours straight! He had 9 models due in studio all at once and he did them all in one day- well one and a half days I guess. He is amazing! This semester is definitely more challenging than last, but I know he can get through it!
(I didn't have my camera today, so there are no pictures.)

Photo Tag

I was tagged by my aunt Melinda. Here is my 4th photo in my 4th folder (I don't have a 5th folder).

This is Cesar outside of my parent's house in January 2006. We were taking our engagement pictures and this is one of just him. He is pretty handsome!
