Eli is six! It seemed like we celebrated his birthday for weeks. His actual birthday is on the 10th, we had cake and presents at my parent's house on the 13th, we ate rice krispie treats and celebrated with his class as school on the 11th, and his friend party was on the 26th. It was scheduled for the week before, but Eli had pink eye so we had to push it back a week. It is nice having a six year old. He is becoming so smart and responsible.

Friends and Family
My kids have some pretty great friends. Here are a few pictures:
Brother friends. This friendship should last the longest!
Ruby and Diego's new friend- our across the street neighbor that I babysit a couple of times a week. He is 2 months younger than Ruby.
We hope that we are some of the kid's best friends too!
Diego and Orion. They play together a couple times a week and then again at nursery on Sundays.
Eli and our neighbor that we carpool with.
Eli and some soccer buddies.
Eli and some friends from school on the school bus going on a field trip.

Port Wine Stain
Ruby has a birth mark called Port Wine Stain. After recommendations from her pediatrician and dermatologist, we decided to give her laser treatments every month in hopes that her birthmark will fade. She has had four laser appointments already. After the laser she has some bruising that lasts about a week. The actual treatment only takes a minute or so; she cries, but not too bad. An hour before the treatment I put a numbing cream on her cheek. Here are before and after pictures from her last appointment; you can see the bruising in the after picture.
Her dermatologist is at The Children's Hospital on Colfax. It is a nice hospital. They even have a child care for siblings of patients. I took Diego there last week while Ruby and I went upstairs to get her treatment. It's very convenient and I am grateful for the volunteers that do the child care. One day I would like to volunteer there myself.

1st day of Kindergarten!
My little Eli is not so little anymore! He started kindergarten Monday. He loved his first week of school. His teacher is Ms. Cindy. He stays all day- 8:55-3:45. He eats lunch there, and gets to go to gym, music, art, and library. There are 24 kids in his class including his best friend from preschool, Evan. I missed him during the days and I know Diego and Ruby did too. I am excited for him to have a good school year and know that he will learn a lot this school year!
Evan's mom went to lunch at school on the first day and took this picture.
I remember my mom always having a welcome home sign for us on the the first day of school. I think I will continue the tradition. :)

Cesar's Job(s)
Cesar got laid off from Cahen architecture May 10th. And his job at Triunity enginerring has slowed way down and is getting very little work from them. He is looking for jobs, but in the meantime he has kept busy. He has continued inspections and has done some handyman work at a couple of neighbors houses for extra income. He is very resourceful and I haven't really been too worried about money. He has continued working on our house too. He finished Ruby's room and the boys playroom.
Here are the boys helping him tile our bathroom.

It has been nice to have him home more often. He helps with the kids and I am able to leave them with him sometimes while I go run an errand, or I can leave sleeping Ruby with him while I take the boys somewhere.
He got a new job and started August 26th (the same day Eli started kindergarten). He has enjoyed him first week of work and thinks he will end up liking the job. He works for Newman Architecture. It is a small firm, just Steve Newman- the architect, Cesar, and one other guy. He works in a small office building that is right next to Steve's house in Lakewood. We feel blessed with the new job and also blessed that we never had to worry about money during the last few months.
