Denver Zoo

We went to the zoo this Labor Day. This is the first time Cesar has ever been to the zoo with either of the boys. The weather was nice and we met my sister and her kids there. Eli loves his cousins.

Elitch Gardens

We went to Elitch Gardens for the second time this summer. The first time was just a short visit with Richard, Grace, and Lucy. That day was rainy and cold so we didn't stay too long. Yesterday was a hot sunny day so we stayed until closing. One of the best things about the day was we only spent $4.50 the entire day! The Elitch tickets were free. We got them from the library summer reading program. Cesar and I used them and Eli and Diego were free (3 and under are free). We brought lunch, snacks, and water so we didn't have to buy any of that. We were tempted to buy ice cream, but we held off. After we left at 6 we were starving and really thirsty so we went to Wendy's for free dinner (thanks Dad). We rode the light rail to Elitch's so we could avoid the $12 parking. We had two free one way tickets, the boys are free, so we only had to buy one round trip ticket for $4.50. Pretty good if you ask me!
The boys got to play and ride everything they wanted in the kid area, we saw a really cool acrobatic show in the air conditioning that we all enjoyed, Cesar and I even got to ride some roller coasters since the lines were all very short or non existent. It was fun seeing Eli and Diego on some of the rides together. And Cesar and I each rode one water ride with Eli. We got wet! At the end of the day we went to the water park at Elitch's. The water was freezing, but it actually felt pretty good since it was so hot outside. Diego was a little hard to handle at the water park since he did not want to hold my hand at all. He just wanted to be on his own even though he fell face first into the water a couple of times. It didn't seem to bother him much at all. Silly boy!
Enjoy the pictures.

Camping

Last weekend we went camping in Byers with our ward. It was fun and I'm glad we went. Eli loved it and I think Diego had the most fun being in the tent all together. I had a little trouble sleeping because Diego is really a mover and a kicker during sleep. I'm glad it was just an overnight trip.
There was a tire swing that all the kids really loved.
Eli after eating his smore.
Cesar and Eli fireside.
Diego exploring.
Diego is still such a momma's boy. He loves to follow me around and be held. He is a really heavy boy too, so I get pretty tired!
There was a small playground there too. I hadn't seen a merry go round in a long time. This was the first one Eli had ever been on. I think he liked it okay, but I get dizzy just looking at it. I'm glad most parks got rid of them!

Triunity Picnic

Creative Eli

Eli is quite a creative little three year old. Everyday he pretends to make movies. He makes car movies, animal movies, and more. He makes up story lines and just acts it out. After he is finished he sings a song to indicate the movie is over- kind of like the music that plays during the credits.
He also designed this Lego city all by himself the other day. It was very impressive. He built a table for the people to sit and eat, stairs, windows, and doors. I was also very impressed with Diego for not knocking Eli's creations over. Diego was playing right by him the whole time!

Logan Canyon rest stop- the view was so beautiful we stopped and had a snack.
Family Reunion - July 13, 2011
Family Reunion
We went on our first family of 4 vacation to Utah in July. We had a good time and I now think I could go on vacations a little more often. I pretty much thought vacations with young kids were not worth it or not fun at all, but now I know that I can have a good time! We drove to Logan Wednesday morning- we left home at 4 am because we needed to get there on time for our family reunion at 2 p.m. We made it just in time. Before the reunion we met my parents, brothers and sisters and their families at the University Ice Cream place and had a cone, then we went to the cemetery across the street where my parents will be buried and where my grandpa, uncle, and other relatives are. We borrowed a portable DVD player so Eli watched a few movies on the drive there. That helped, and we of course had snacks, books, and some toys to keep them (and us) happy in the car.
The family reunion was for all the descendants of my grandma Joyce (my mom's mom). I got to see my cousins that I hadn't seen for a while, their kids, and aunt's and uncles. It was a good time. We met at Willow Park and had good food.
In Logan we spent the night at Mark and Peggy's house. They have a nice peaceful back yard and porch. The boys slept on the floor and did pretty well. Diego woke up a couple of times in the night, but that was to be expected. Cesar, my dad, and brothers went golfing Thursday morning. My mom, Peggy, the boys, and I went on a walk around the neighborhood and just had a relaxing morning. Logan is a nice town. The drive through Logan canyon was beautiful. My dad is always talking about how nice it is and I really got to enjoy it this time. The lake, river, and mountains are so pretty. We had lunch again in Willow Park before we left Logan and drove to Salt Lake.
