National Get Outdoors Day

The kids and I went to a fun festival in City Park.  The boys fished for their first time!  The park rangers helped them touch the fish and then let them swim back in the water.

There were other fun games in the park, including a cool bike course.  They had bikes and helmets to borrow.

While we were having fun at the park, Cesar and a couple neighbors were working on our side yard.  They put down artificial turf.  They even worked through rain and some hail!  Our neighbors were so nice to help for hours!  We love our yard now!  It's so nice to eat outside on the table, play in the grass, and sit on the recliner chairs and relax. And I love that we don't have grass to mow or weeds to pull!

New Bikes

We got new bikes!  I've wanted a bike for a long time and am loving it!  I've taken several bike rides around the neighborhood and it is hard work.  It is good exercise and hopefully I will get better at it as I continue to ride.
Yesterday we all went on a ride together.  We rode to Chipotle in the town center for lunch and then we took the trail to the Mitchell's house to drop Diego off at a birthday party there.  It was pretty far.  Cesar and I took turns pulling the kids in the trailer.  It is really a lot harder to pull the kids.  Sometimes I feel like I am just inching along and going so slow, but I just keep on going.

Ruby even got a new tricycle!  She can't ride it yet, but I can slowly push her around.  I have to be careful because she likes to get off and on a lot while moving!  Our neighbor, Arelis, gave it to us- her daughter grew out of it.

Last week of Kindergarten

Eli is finished with Kindergarten.  Next school year he will be a big first grader!  He had a good year in Ms. Cindy and Ms. M's class.  He learned to read, made new friends, have fun learning math and science.
The class put on a surprise shower for Ms. Cindy and Ms. Marissa.  Ms. Cindy is pregnant with her first baby and is due in July.  We all gave her a book for her baby.  Ms. M is getting married this summer, so we all pitched in to get her a gift card.
Eli and his best friend Evan at field day.  They are tied together for the three legged race in this picture.
Eli had a field trip to Central Park.  We meet him there and ate lunch with him.

Eli and Grady.  We carpooled with Grady- he lives on the next street over from us.  It was a great arrangement and we are sad that Grady will be going to a different school next year.

Memorial Day 2014

The kids and I went to a Memorial Day Parade in Commerce City.  It was pretty nice and the boys got quite a bit of candy in their bags.

We are really blessed to live in the United States of America.  I know that many countries don't have so many luxuries and freedoms that we have.  I'm grateful for all the people that help to make this country great and safe!

We also had a fun family outing this weekend.  We went to a cemetery not far from us and they had a family festival.  There were ambulances, fire trucks, cop cars, etc for the kids to look at and get in.  They also had jump houses and free food- hamburgers, snow cones and cotton candy.  The best part was when a life flight helicopter landed right in front of us. They warned us that asphalt may fly in the air and it did.  I covered Ruby's face and the rest of us tried to cover ourselves.  Ruby got a little scared, but it was pretty cool.  I love free fun activities like that!

Lowry Preschool and Coloring Contest

Diego's last day of Lowry Preschool was today.  He enjoyed the time he was there- Jan. - May.  His teachers were Ms. Joan and Ms. Wendy.  There were several kids from church in his class, so he already  knew most of the other students.

Diego won his school's coloring contest!  He has really loved coloring the last few weeks and has gotten pretty good at it.  As a prize he got new crayons and a bubble wand.  Good job Diego!

Santa Fe- May 2014

Cesar and I went on vacation without the children!  We went to Santa Fe and were gone 3 nights and 4 days.  It was great!
Thanks so much to my mom for taking care of the kids the whole time!  We are so grateful she was willing and able.

We sat by the hotel pool and relaxed.  We also enjoyed the hot tub and swimming.
These wind sculptures were fun to watch.
