Schools Out for Summer

Eli is finished with preschool!  He had a great school year and really enjoyed his class.  Next year he will be a big kindergartner!

Ms. Casey and Ms. Sarah were great teachers!

Vacation

We went on a small vacation last week to the mountains.  We stayed in a condo in Granby.  My parents rented it for a week, but only stayed a few nights so we got to go for the rest of the time.  The boys were so excited to go on a vacation!  Once we got in the car and were ready to drive the 2 hours to get there, Diego was a little disappointed because I guess he thought we were going to go in an airplane, but he got over it quickly.

The first day we stayed inside most of the day because it was so cold outside.  We enjoyed playing games- Crazy 8, matching, fish games, and guessing games.  It was nice to just relax and enjoy each others company.

We went to Grand Lake and walked around a little bit before we got too cold!  The lake and mountains were beautiful.  We ate at a pizza restaurant before going back to the condo.
Diego seems to be sucking his thumb more and more these days.  I was hoping he would be weaning himself with age, but no luck.  He is such a loving boy.  He likes to hold hands and snuggle.  Ruby is such a sweetheart.  She is a great sister and rarely complains about her brothers getting in her face.

On our dive back we stopped at a nice park in Winter Park and played even though it was super windy.

My three little monkeys.  I love them all so much!

Swimming

The outdoor swimming pools opened this weekend.  We went twice already and may go again today.  Stapleton has four pools and one more on the way.

Eli is doing great in the water.  He jumps in the pool all by himself (with and without his floaties) and does great going under a lot.

Astronaut and Cowboy

Eli:  I'm going to be an astronaut when I get bigger.

Diego:  I will be a cowboy in the desert.

Eli:  The desert is a long way from space, I will miss Diego.  "Diego, do you want to be an astronaut with me?"  I will drive the space ship so you don't have to.  You can just be with me.  Don't worry, I will be there in case you are scared of comets.

Diego:  No, I need to be a cowboy.

My operation

I had an operation last week (April 16th, 2013).  I had a Mierna IUD placed the week before and learned on Monday that it was in the wrong place.  It had migrated out of my uterus.  They had to go in and get it.  I was meant to have a laproscopic surgery where they would make 2 small incisions to get the IUD out, but they couldn't find it!  The surgery was supposed to be only an hour or less, but ended up being about four hours.  They had to give me a 6 inch incision in my lower abdomen, stick their whole arm in my body in order to pull the IUD out.

Now I am recovering.

The whole ordeal has been scary, surprising and humbling.  When I woke up from surgery I was very drugged up which was very hard on me.  I felt like I had never felt before.  I felt like I may fall asleep and never wake up again.  Those were some difficult hours.  I am thankful for the nurses, doctors, my parents, and Cesar for reassuring me that I would be okay.

My mom stayed with me the whole time I was in the hospital.  I am so grateful for her.  She helped me feed Ruby and took care of her the rest of the time.  She kept me company.
Sandra took care of Eli and Diego while I was in the hospital.  I am thankful she did that.
Cesar kept working hard at his jobs and took care to put the boys to bed at home and then came to the hospital to visit me.  I am grateful for him.

It is hard to not be able to take care of my kids like I am used to.  I feel blessed to be a mom and never want to take that for granted again.  I want to be the best mom I can be.

I am so grateful for family and friends and church members that have offered to help.  I will be sure to help them when I am able and when they are going through hard things.

I am grateful for this trial even though it is very difficult and it is not over yet.

Ruby's Blessing

Cesar gave Ruby a nice baby blessing in church on March 17th.  Ruby looked so beautiful in her long white dress.  My friend let me borrow the dress.

Our little Ruby

Ruby is such a little doll.  We all love her so much.  Today she gave the biggest cutest smile ever!  She started smiling ocassionally and I love it.  She is already 6 weeks old.  She is getting a little bit of chub on her face and legs and growing out of some clothes and growing into most of the clothes that were so big on her.
