2017-18 School Year

All 3 of the kids are in full-time school at Swigert!  This is the first time in nearly 10 years that I have been alone during the day.  It is definitely a big change for me.  I'm enjoying it so far.

Eli is in 4th grade with Mr. Miller
Diego has Ms. Vanauken for 2nd grade. (Eli also had here in 2nd)
Ruby is in ECE 4 with Ms. Shannon and Ms. Gale.

They are all enjoying school and I'm so glad that they are!
I love walking or biking to school all together.  I love that they are all just down the street from home.

The first day of school, August 21, 2017 was also the day of a solar eclipse.  We all got together on the Swigert playground with our eclipse glasses and got to see the moon pass in between the sun and the Earth.  It was pretty cool.

Lakeside

We went to Lakeside Amusement Park in June.  It was pretty fun for everyone.  There were no lines which was so nice!

Schools Out for Summer! 2017

The kids had a good school year.  Ruby finished ECE 3 in Ms. Grimes and Ms. Alicia's class at Stedman.  She loved going to school each day and learned and made some friends.  Here are a few pictures from continuation and field day:

Diego finished up First Grade with Ms. Margulies' class.  He also enjoyed going to school every day and never complained about it.  I love that my kids love school.  They have each already said they miss it and we are only one week into summer break!

And Eli finished 3rd grade in Ms. Montgomery's class.  He had a good year.

Mother's Day Fiesta

Cesar organized a big Mother's Day Mexican Party for the ward.  He did it all- decorations, food, mariachi band, etc.  He got someone from the Spanish ward to cater the food.  He did a great job and everyone had fun and commented on what a great job he did organizing it!

Spring Sports

Eli was on a volleyball team and Diego played soccer this Spring through the rec center.
Eli's friend Jack signed up with him; they were the only boys on the team.  The couches were really nice and even gave them each a gift bag with a framed picture of the team, a personalized note, a ball and a few pieces of candy! Eli enjoyed the season and was good at serving the ball.
Diego didn't enjoy soccer that much.  He said the games were fun, but practice was boring.

New Bikes

Ruby and Diego won free bikes and helmets at a Denver Public School event in May!  They gave everyone a raffle ticket and their numbers were called!  There were several bikes they had to give away and not that many people were there so our odds were pretty good.  My friend was with us and one of her kids won a bike too.

Spring and Easter 2017

The day before Easter we dyed eggs.  We tried a different method this year and liked it.  You spread out whip cream and add food coloring and then swirl the eggs around.

Here's a cute picture of Cesar and Ruby in our courtyard- the trees are so pretty with all their blooms.

We had a nice family dinner at my parents' house that LaResa was in charge of.  We continued the money egg hunt tradition even though my parents are gone.  (We used their change from their change jar in their room :)).

I invited Cesar's brother's family for Easter too.
